Julia Akpan

MBA, MA, ICADC, LCADC, CCS  (Executive Director)

Julia is the Executive Director for MTOCC, and a Clinical Supervisor for substance abuse treatment. She earned her MBA degree in Global Management & Marketing from Centenary University and MA in Human Service from Liberty University. She is a Licensed Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor approved by the Alcohol & Drug Counselor Committee in the state of New Jersey. Julia espouses evidence-based and holistic (biopsychosocial) concept in her practice. Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that all people have an inherent ability to heal. She has helped people understand that they are not alone and that there is hope in any of life’s challenges, which is approached with compassion, empathy and encouragement.

In addition to her work at MTOCC, she is an Adjunct Professor who teaches Information System Management and Organization Business Management at both undergraduate and graduate levels at various colleges. She prides herself in her ability to propel, impact and empower individuals who are eager to learn “Climbing Toward a Better Tomorrow”.

Do you need Clinical supervision in order to get your CADC or LCAD? Her objective is to provide qualitative, warm and supportive supervision, and/or professional development sessions to both individual and group. She offers consultation for both oral and written examinations in compliance with the requirements of the certified Board.

Kathleen Kohout, BS

Counselor Intern

Kathleen Kohaut is a graduate from the University of South Dakota with a BS in Addiction Studies. She is currently pursuing her CADC at MTOCC.

Kathleen has passion for the client’s welfare and uses a Client Centered Approach incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and faith-based treatment approaches. Kathleen’s desire is to create a safe nurturing atmosphere in which individuals can be supported in their efforts to engage and grow on their journey towards healing and wholeness.

Joanna D’Agosta, MSW, LCSW

Clinical Staff

Joanna D’Agosta, LCSW-earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Masters of Social Work degree from Syracuse University. She also completed requirements to earn her New Jersey State certification as a School Social Worker and her New Jersey License in Clinical Social Work. She has performed out-patient psychotherapy, in-community crisis intervention, case management and administrative responsibilities.

For nearly 20 years, Mrs. D’Agosta has worked diligently with adults, adolescents, children and their families creating measurable treatment goals, coordinating appropriate service linkages and collaborating with essential mental health team members to facilitate consumers’ successful outcomes. Areas of therapeutic specialty include largely cognitive behavioral strategies to help treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief/loss, domestic violence/abuse and various interpersonal and behavioral conflicts.

John Cameron

MA, LCADC, School Psychologist

John Cameron has over 20 years of law enforcement experience and a deep background in counselling. He holds dual licensure as a School Psychologist and a New Jersey Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LCADC) and has been supporting individuals through life’s most difficult challenges since 2003.

Known for his compassionate approach and quick wit, John creates a welcoming environment where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered. His blend of professional insight and humor makes him a trusted presence at the clinic.

Gold Oleka

M.Ed., LAC. Therapist, CBT Specialist & Faith-Based Counselor

Gold is a compassionate and highly skilled therapist with a specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and faith-based counseling. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Temple University, equipping her with a strong foundation in psychological theory and clinical practice.

With a deep commitment to emotional healing and personal growth, Gold offers support for a wide range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her integrative approach combines evidence-based techniques with spiritual insight, creating a safe and nurturing space for clients to explore their challenges and discover lasting transformation.

Gold’s mission is to walk alongside each person on their journey toward healing, empowering them to reclaim their peace, strengthen their resilience, and live with renewed purpose.

Karissa Pryzhocki

MSW, LSW – Compassionate, Client-Centered Therapist

Karissa Pryzhocki, MSW, LSW. is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. She provides compassionate, client-centered care to individuals navigating life’s challenges and striving toward personal growth. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes creating a safe, collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Karissa works with diverse populations and is committed to helping each person reach their goals through empathy, respect, and evidence-informed practices. She believes in the power of authentic connection and tailors her support to meet the unique needs of every client.

Outside of her professional work, Karissa enjoys exploring new restaurants, traveling, hiking, working out, and spending time with family and friend’s activities that reflect her vibrant, balanced approach to life.

Sonia Wilson-DaCosta

Clinical Programs Coordinator

Sonia brings over a decade of experience in administrative support, compliance, and healthcare operations to her role at Mt. Olive Counseling & Clinic. She earned her degree in Communication from Franklin Pierce College and began her career in hospital administration, where she supported patient care and regulatory compliance under The Joint Commission and the State of New Jersey.

Her career later expanded into regulatory affairs and quality assurance within the medical device industry, where she ensured documentation met rigorous FDA and ISO standards. These experiences sharpened her skills in precision, organization, and regulatory oversight, skills she now applies to coordinating clinical programs with a strong focus on safety and client-centered care.

At Mt. Olive, Sonia’s attention to detail and deep understanding of healthcare systems help ensure that every client receives well-coordinated, compassionate support. Outside of work, she’s a dedicated animal rescue advocate and enjoys hiking and observing wildlife near her home.

Elizabeth (Liz) Hill

LCADC, CCS

With over 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field, Liz Hill brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to her counseling practice. She is a Licensed Counselor in the state of New Jersey, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, and holds the designation of Co-occurring Disorder Professional.

Liz has worked across every level of care from outpatient services to residential treatment giving her a comprehensive understanding of the recovery journey. Her approach is rooted in empathy, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Dr. Joel Pierre

DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Joel Pierre is a Doctorate-prepared, Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 15 years of experience in the nursing profession. His career has been defined by a deep passion for mental health care and a steadfast commitment to helping individuals enhance their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

Dr. Pierre’s academic journey began with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Eastwick College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Chamberlain University. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric and mental health care from Walden University and later completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Gannon University.

Known for his compassionate and holistic approach, Dr. Pierre integrates evidence-based treatments, psychotherapy, and medication management to develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. His clinical expertise spans mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-informed care, stress management, and the thoughtful integration of therapy with medication for optimal outcomes.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Pierre is deeply committed to mentorship and professional development. He actively supports students and fellow clinicians, fostering growth, empathy, and excellence in the field of mental health.

Maggie Shaver-Dock

Licensed Associate Counselor | Disaster Response Crisis Counselor

With over 30 years of experience as a mental health professional and educator, Maggie Shaver-Dock brings deep compassion, clinical expertise, and a holistic perspective to her work. Her career began as an in-home clinician, later expanding into public education where she served as a teacher, counselor, and Director of Guidance. Throughout her journey, Maggie has remained dedicated to helping individuals find emotional balance, resilience, and personal growth.

Maggie’s therapeutic approach integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and strength-based strategies. She specializes in supporting clients through anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and life transitions, offering a warm, nonjudgmental space to explore challenges and build practical coping tools. Her goal is to foster lasting change and help each person cultivate a deeper sense of calm, confidence, and connection in daily life.

Outside the therapy room, Maggie is an avid hiker, backpacker, and nature enthusiast. She finds renewal in foraging, camping, and volunteering activities she often encourages as part of self-care. Her service with organizations such as the NY/NJ Trail Conference, Team Rubicon, NJDMHAS Disaster & Terrorism Branch, and Market Street Mission reflects her belief in the healing power of community, purpose, and mindful engagement with the world.
