Adolescent Substance Abuse Programs
Adolescent and Prevention Program
The Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Program focuses on
the awareness of drug abuse and places it within the social
context of adolescents. An educational component is provided
to demonstrate how drugs affect one's body and life, and how
individual can acquire the skills to make informed decisions
about drug use. The program utilizes group process in peer
groups, parents groups and multi-family groups. We espouse
therapeutic approach that emphasizes on motivational
enhancement and cognitive behavioral therapy.
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
This program serves as a "step down" from inpatient
hospitalization and partial day program, or as a means to
prevent hospitalization. In some cases (IOP) serves as the
primary treatment program for individuals who are
experiencing less severe problems. The program is designed
for individuals who are able to remain in regular school, at
home or attend transitioning educational program while being
treated for chemical dependency. We provide individual and
peer group processes, education and experiential exercises.
The program focuses on the individual’s specific needs,
addresses self-awareness, 12 Step lifestyle and motivation.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides intensive
intervention for teens whose treatment assessment dictates
the need for (IOP). The program is offered for three hours
per day and runs for four days per week.
The goal of the IOP is to achieve abstinence, strengthen the
family system, and provide both the parents and adolescent
with the tools for successful recovery. Each week there is a
multi-family therapy group, in which families work as a
whole and learn from each other, and a separate parents’
group in which parents are provided with education, support
and guidance on how to approach their child’s problem. There
are also individual family therapy sessions as indicated.
Family Programs
The needs of the family are always addressed at MTOCC
and are often a critical factor in successful treatment. Our
goal is to help foster a family system that is supportive of
treatment. We provide an opportunity for the family as a
whole to begin to reorganize mutually satisfying and
productive interaction.
